- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪I accompanied my husband to his dermatology appointment on June 20th, 2017. We arrived early and we were admitted by the nurse practitioner who basically ran the entire appointment, with the exception of the 30 second doctor appearance, where this nurse practitioner informed the doctor of her diagnosis, and then shuffled the doctor out of the examination room. My issue with this entire experience is it is hard enough for me to get my husband to go to his doctors’ appointments, without having a nurse practitioner act as though the patient is wasting the hospital’s time. More than once she commented that she couldn't believe that they sent this, to them, meaning my husband’s main doctor referring his irregular mole to see the dermatologist. When I commented that it was better safe than sorry, the nurse practitioner replied "No", hand me pamphlets on different skin lesions, and my impression was that in the future we should just self-diagnose, until we came up with something that was closer to skin cancer, because that was what I was informed that they treated at this hospital.May 03, 2017by michelle zicarelli
